General Information

All registered participants will receive a pre-paid EFA Travel Pass that can be used for all GVB provided public transportation options in Amsterdam on the conference days (i.e., bus, tram, and metro).  Please find more information on this pass in the Information about the EFA Travel Pass section below.

For your convenience, we provide a list of the main venues and hotels below, with links to Google Maps.  The venues are also indicated on a map of Amsterdam to give you a sense of direction.

Information about the EFA Travel Pass

The EFA Travel Pass is a digital pass. To use the EFA Travel Pass, you need to download the GVB app (blue coloured app). This app is available for iOS and Android. The EFA Travel Pass can be used to travel with the GVB tram, GVB metro and GVB (night) bus during the EFA congress.

In the week prior to the EFA congress, you will receive an e-mail with a unique promotion code with more information. With this code, you can activate your EFA Travel Pass in the GVB app from Wednesday 16 August 2023 to Saturday 19 August 2023.

The EFA Travel Pass is valid for 72 hours. After you check in for the first time on the GVB tram, metro or bus, the 72 hours starts.

With the EFA Travel Pass you can quickly and easily plan your trip. You always have your favourite line’s up-to-date and the right departure times at your fingertips.

How to check in?

Easy check-in and out using your mobile phone. For the metro, check in and out at the metro gates which have a barcode reader.

On the bus and tram, you can check in and out with your barcode at the barcode reader under the validator.

To do this, hold the back of your phone with the barcode facing up on the circle with the QR code below the card reader. (See image below)

Route description VU Amsterdam

From Station Amsterdam Zuid to VU Amsterdam

It is a 10-minute walk to VU Amsterdam from Station Amsterdam Zuid.

Public transportation options:
  • Tram 5 direction Amstelveen Stadshart, get off at stop A.J. Ernststraat.
  • Tram 25 direction Westwijk, get off at stop A.J. Ernststraat.
From Station Amsterdam Centraal to VU Amsterdam
Public transportation options:
  • Metro 52 (Noord/Zuidlijn) direction Station Zuid, get off at stop Station Zuid.  Then, see above “From Station Amsterdam Zuid.”
  • Metro 51 direction Isolatorweg, get off at stop Station Zuid.  Then, see above “From Station Amsterdam Zuid.”
  • Tram 24 direction VUmc, get off at stop De Boelelaan / VU.
From Schiphol Airport to VU Amsterdam
Public transportation options (these are not included in the EFA Travel Pass):
  • Bus 341 direction Station Zuid, get off at stop De Boelelaan / VU.
  • Bus 397 direction AMS Elandsgracht, get off at stop Amselveenseweg. Walk about 10 minutes.
  • By train: Every train that has stop Amsterdam Zuid included.  Then, see above “From Station Amsterdam Zuid.”
From Hotel NH Amsterdam Zuid to VU Amsterdam

It is a 20 minute walk from NH Amsterdam Zuid to VU Amsterdam.

Public transportation options:
  • From stop Kastelenstraat: Bus 62 direction Station Lelylaan, get off at stop De Boelelaan / VU.
  • From stop Van Boshuizenstraat: Tram 5 direction Jordaan, get off at stop A.J. Ernststraat.
  • From stop Van Boshuizenstraat: Tram 25 direction Station Zuid, get off at stop A.J. Ernststraat.
From Hotel Novotel Amsterdam City to VU Amsterdam

It is a 20 minute walk from Novotel Amsterdam City to VU Amsterdam.

Public transportation options:
  • From stop Europaboulevard: Bus 62 direction Station Lelylaan, get off at stop De Boelelaan / VU.
From Hotel Hotel CASA to VU Amsterdam
Public transportation options:
  • From stop Amstelstation: Metro 51 direction Isolatorweg, get off at stop Amsterdam Zuid.  Then, see above “From Station Amsterdam Zuid”
  • From stop Amstelstation: Bus 65 direction Station Zuid, get off at stop Station Zuid.  Then, see above “From Station Amsterdam Zuid.”
  • From stop Amstelstation: Bus 62 direction Station Lelylaan, get off at stop De Boelelaan / VU.

  • From stop A.J. Ernststraat: Tram 5 direction Jordaan, get off at stop Museumplein.

From VU Amsterdam
  • From stop De Boelelaan / VU: Tram 24 direction Centraal Station, change at stop Amsterdam Centraal, Tram 26 direction IJburg, get off at Muziekgeb. Bimhuis.
  • From Station Amsterdam Zuid: Metro 52(Noord/Zuidlijn) direction Noord, get off at stop Centraal Station, walk 20 minutes.
